FACILITATED BREATH WORK

Facilitated Breath Work involves guided breathing techniques to assist with physiological and emotional health.

Breathing assists in stimulating the movement of blood for tissue nourishment and lymphatic fluid for detoxification. The movement of the  breath also increases our digestive motility and the health of the organs. Our breath helps us in anchoring our conscious mind to our body by allowing us to focus on the sensations that occur through inhalation and exhalation and assisting us in the process of relaxation.

Facilitated breath work draws from the same approach used in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

High stress levels and trauma can create hormonal changes within the body  which have an adverse affect on breathing patterns. Postural distortions can also result in compromised breathing.

By directing our focus back to our breath and consciously altering our breathing pattern, we can benefit organic processes such as:

  • Slowing heart rate
  • Normalizing respiratory pH levels
  • Balancing hormones
  • Supporting lymphatic function
  • Improving digestion
  • Reducing pain and muscle tension

When we inhale, oxygen permeates our bloodstream, nourishing and energising every cell in our body. As our brain is saturated with oxygen rich blood, good feeling hormones are released enhancing our sense of wellness.

Exhalation is the process of release and relaxation and helps to rid our body of carbonic acid, a poisonous substance derived from the breakdown of carbon-dioxide in our system. Through simple guided breathing techniques included in treatment, relaxation is improved and energy is boosted as you are able to “tap into” your very life force.
